Five years ago we said we wanted to make life easier for developers.
How are we fulfilling that promise today? Thanks to the support of our clients, team, and the open source community, we’re making that happen every day by expanding our global team’s depth and breadth of experience across Cloud Hosting and Container Management that’s supported by our strong TAM skills and our new Agency Partner Program. amazee.io also supports your company’s entire Web Operations, no matter where you are in the world. Our global team of highly skilled Kubernetes and platform experts are available 24/7/365 to investigate and mitigate issues immediately with modern collaboration tools that allow proactive customer communication.
So, how did we get here?
The amazee.io platform was built within our sister company, Amazee Labs, to solve the Drupal-specific hosting needs the company was facing at the time. Drupal hosting providers weren’t flexible and didn’t allow hosting in just any country. Amazee Labs had been building and hosting Drupal sites for over seven years, and during that time those challenges and client requests illuminated the real need for a new, creative hosting solution.
We decided to build a hosting environment that was tailored to the unique needs of Drupal — and we built everything with the developer in mind. Over time, these hosting demands became more and more complex. There was a growing need to run more than just Drupal, and developers were requesting the ability to spin up new environments for every Pull Request. All of this led us to reimplement the entire Hosting Stack based on Containers and Kubernetes.
amazee.io is born
This platform’s enthusiastic reception led to the founding of amazee.io on May 1, 2016. We knew from the beginning that we wanted to make our offering open source and not only share all our knowledge with the community but also allow anybody to validate and contribute to the hosting stack.
Of course, we’ve come a long way since then. Today, we’re running thousands of sites on this robust container-based hosting solution for developers, agencies, and even governments around the globe. Our containerized platform supports complex Drupal, decoupled projects and technically anything you can run in a container, and we’re continuing our mission to succeed as the world’s leading open source hosting provider with a high focus on developer’s needs and enterprises.

What does the future have in store for amazee.io?
With our honed skill set in WebOps and Managed Kubernetes, our customers can continue to rely on us so they can focus on innovation leveraged by modern technologies.
In addition, we recognize the increased need for highly automated applications delivery platforms with a rich ecosystem of supported technologies. These platforms are building the bridge between the developers and the operations team. Therefore we will continue to invest in Lagoon - amazee.io’s initiated open source application delivery platform. We will enrich Lagoon with more frameworks, more templates, more build packs and better APIs to ease the life of every developer.
The rise of multi-cloud, hybrid cloud environments is upon us and for organizations that need a flexible and infrastructure-independent WebOps Platform, we’ll be there – surpassing customer expectations – as a WebOps platform and partner that empowers developer teams to focus on new features, faster deployments, and worry-free operations.
