Technical Account Manager
Lanette's path to amazee.io is a unique blend of early internet experience, the craft beer industry, and a passion for open source hosting. Her career demonstrates how diverse experiences build a valuable skillset.
In 1994, Lanette entered tech at The Poynter Institute, tasked with bringing them online. This involved everything from server setup, installing a 56k line, setting up the network gateway, learning HTML, and building their first website. With the rise of the internet, the complexity of her role also skyrocketed, managing multiple web servers and an ever-expanding infrastructure, all while handling the daily tech needs of the institute. This foundational experience gave her a deep, hands-on understanding of systems and the challenges of a growing online presence.
After 18 years at Poynter, the changing landscape of journalism led Lanette to a surprising pivot: she opened a craft beer bar and grill called Crum's. The bar and grill had a staggering 65 beers and ciders on tap. Frustrated with bar software, she used her Drupal knowledge to custom-build KegTracker, an app for managing inventory, pricing, and the online menu, showcasing the power of open source.
Following the bar's closure, Lanette returned to tech, joining Acquia as a Support Engineer. Her strong troubleshooting skills led to eight years of resolving technical issues. She then moved into a Technical Account Manager role, focusing on proactive client relationships and site optimization.
Lanette's work experiences have equipped her with a unique blend of technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and a deep appreciation for the power of open source.
